The One Hundred Views of Oia
Video, Photography, Light and Shadow

A video exploring the power and the limits of digital technology, and questionning its esthetics.
It is composed of a series of 100 digital photos, which are in fact stills from a low definitition video.
The point of attention of all these people in the video, and at the same time the converging point of all the cameras and camcorders that they hold in their hands, is the « mythical » sunset in the village of Oia on Santorini, a sublime volcanic island in Greece, and at the same time a tourist factory.
The title of the work is inspired by the One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji by Hokusai.

Clic-clac, zoom on the sun, on the moon, on the sea, clic clac on the boneheaded.
… The Occident’s culture bows down before the setting sun
